Description
Four children (Reynie, Sticky, Kate and Constance) respond to an ad in the paper which invites gifted children to come and take a series of tests. After passing the tests they become part of The Mysterious Benedict Society. Their first task is to attend The Learning Institute for the Very Enlightened on a secret mission that just might save the world.
This is a long book (over 400 pages). The children in the story are eleven and twelve and we recommend it for that age and up. The audio is well-done and may help those who would get bogged down reading it on their own. The story will appeal to both boys and girls, particularly those who like a good adventure story with some mystery thrown in.
It’s a fun romp of a story with rather eccentric characters who become family to one another by the end of their adventure. There are lots of twists and turns in this book, but ultimately it is a story of the courage we can find when we help one another to use our unique gifts for a common goal.
