Description
Bonnie and her cousin Sylvia are left in the care of a cruel governess, Miss Slighcarp. The two girls escape and together they set out on a journey that builds their friendship while testing their ability to survive in the frigid winter. This book swirls a wintry mix of story which takes thematic threads from Charles Dickens, the Bronte sisters, and Frances Hodgson Burnett. It’s just right for reading aloud during the cold months of winter, good for boys or girls (but two of the main characters are girls) and best enjoyed by ages 9-13.
